December 23rd marked the final day of work as we closed down our offices until January 5th. Well, I actually ending up putting in a number of hours everyday for the next week as we were closing our latest transaction, but it wasn't too bad. So, what to do with all of those days off?
On the evening of December 23rd, we went to the Poinsettia Bowl held at Qualcomm Stadium and watched the #9 Boise State Broncos fall to the #11 TCU Horned Frogs, 17-16. The following Tuesday, December 30th, we went to the Holiday Bowl, also held at Qualcomm, and watched the #17 Oregon Ducks come from behind and score 35 2nd half points to beat the #13 Oklahoma State Cowboys. The next morning, New Year's Eve, we barely made it out of San Diego due to fog to fly to New Orleans for the best bowl game of the year, the 75th Annual Sugar Bowl, featuring the #6 Utah Utes against the #4 Alabama Crimson Tide. Oh, and by the way, I am only mentioning the BCS rankings for each team as everyone has been brainwashed into referring to them over the past 10 years, but now, we understand that they are completely meaningless, why? Because my Utah Utes whooped up on some Alabama Crimson Tide and finished the season 13-0. An unblemished season, and in the eyes of many, a National Championship Season! The Utes started out strong, not only shocking the Tide fans sitting next to me, but shocking myself as well, with a 21-0 first quarter. We continued to dominate on both sides of the ball, and dropped the Tides quarterback eight times! Needless to say, we had a fantastic time in New Orleans. That evening, instead of trying to catch a few hours of sleep before our flight back, Zane, his buddy, and I heading out onto the town to celebrate. We got back to the hotel just in time to head to the airport, make it back to San Diego, take a short nap, and head to a Charger victory over the Colts in overtime. Reality struck a few days later, and I'm now back at work, but getting ready for our ski trip to Utah to hit Alta, Deer Valley, Park City, The Canyons, etc.
